Tamilnadu Automobile and Allied Industries Federation
TAAIF traces its beginnings to 1982, when a discussion at the Trichy Auto Parts Dealers' Association inspired automobile trade leaders from across Tamil Nadu to create a common federation. Representatives of several associations later met in Chennai under the guidance of Mr. K. R. Raghavan, Managing Director of IMPAL, and established the Tamilnadu Automobile and Allied Industries Federation.
The Federation was formed to unite automobile and allied trade associations operating in different cities and towns. By bringing them under one umbrella, TAAIF created a shared platform for addressing matters that affect spare-parts dealers and related businesses, including commercial taxation, labour regulation, packaged commodities requirements, and other trade policies.
Representation and Industry Service
Mr. K. R. Raghavan served as the Charter President. Over the years, many respected trade leaders have guided the Federation and helped it grow into a statewide organisation. TAAIF has represented member associations from Chennai to Kanyakumari and has consistently worked to protect the legitimate interests of the automobile trade.
The Federation supports laws and public measures that benefit the industry, while placing reasoned objections before the Government whenever a proposal may adversely affect the trade. Its earlier representations on matters such as entry tax and Form 21-A reflect this long-standing role.
A Statewide Federation
TAAIF follows a zonal leadership system designed to give member associations a fair opportunity to take responsibility and contribute capable leaders. This approach supports orderly transitions, broader participation, and unity across the Federation.
The administrative office has long been supported by the Madras Motor Parts Dealers' Association and operates from Raheja Towers on Anna Salai, Chennai. Today, TAAIF continues to connect associations, dealers, and allied industries while adapting its services to the changing needs of the automobile trade.
